A happy goodbye
I knew my exhibition was closing this week, but when I wrote today's date, realised it was Friday, and that tomorrow is the actual final day, I felt... what?
Studio Yo-Yo
Long time readers will know that I moved out of my big studio I loved about 2 years ago. There was a moisture problem with the 50 year old concrete slab floor and I initially moved out to see if my weird health issues were related. Turns out …
Exhibition catch up
My solo exhibition 'Complex Simplicity' is currently on show at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery until May 28, 2022. Somehow I missed writing a blog post about it so here's a catch up.
Going B I G
It's been one wonderful thing after another her at Happiness Central. Originally my Complex Simplicity exhibition at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery was scheduled for 9 weeks. However it was quickly decided to extend this by another 9 weeks. To celebrate the second half of the exhibition the video was moved and I installed a site specific painting/mural on the wall of the gallery last week, just in time for The Festival of Happiness.
Mixing Magenta
This is the first in a little series of posts about colour mixing acrylic paints. I'm an absolute colour maniac and I love mixing colours just as much. After lots of study and even more practise I'm reasonably comfortable mixing just about any colour. The colour today is Magenta.
‘Complex Simplicity’ opens 22 Jan 2022
After a couple of years working towards it, my solo exhibition 'Complex Simplicity' opens next month. To say I'm excited is to understate it somewhat! The exhibition will have my recent series of paintings. These are the colourful works you've glimpsed if you follow my blog, social media accounts or newsletters.
How the world wasn’t made
I think most people are doing what they can to help the environment. Recently when I expressed concern over some materials and processes, an arts professional replied “The world didn’t get this way due to the actions of artists.”
Writing my Artist Statement
There is actually a lot more to being an artist than painting gorgeous art. We actually need to do a fair bit of writing too.
From social media posts, to newsletters and yes, blog posts, writing is fairly synonymous with other day to day activities for artists.

The making of a sketchbook page
Another brief animation of the making of a sketchbook page. I’m having so much fun making these!
New sketchbook page
First animation
I work a lot in my sketchbook. I cut out shapes (circles!) from painted paper and then I move them around to discover what they do to each other, how one next to an other affects the colours and perception of shape. Then I stick them down onto my sketchbook page.
New Work
New work! This is a peek at what I’ve been doing in my studio all year. It started with an obsession with circles ⭕️ and blossomed into a deep look at shape and colour.
