FAQs

What is an original painting?

Jan Allsopp’s paintings are all original one-offs which means the painting you choose is the only one like it in existence now, or in the future.

What is a ‘box painting’?

Some paintings are done on custom made wooden boxes. This is so you have a fun way of displaying the art - stacking on a side table for example. They really are a cross between a painting and a sculpture in that they are free standing and do not have to be hung on a wall. (They could be hung on a wall all the same! Ask Jan how.) The boxes are solid and can’t be opened.

Is the painting signed and authenticated?

All Jan’s paintings are signed on the back (including box paintings), and some are also signed on the front. Each painting comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

What is a Certificate of Authenticity?

In 2018 Jan Allsopp started issuing Certificates of Authenticity with every artwork. The certificate includes the artwork number, details and some information about the inspiration for the painting. Certificates are signed and dated and bring additional reassurance when purchasing original art.

Where can I buy a Jan Allsopp painting?

All Jan Allsopp’s paintings are sold through this website. A selection is sold through online galleries - Bluethumb in Australia, Saatchi Art in UK and USA, and Singulart in Europe.

Jan’s paintings are available through exhibitions and galleries as notified on the blog and through the newsletter.

What materials are used in the paintings?

Jan uses professional grade art materials including paints and protective layers and coatings. Paintings are done on wood panels or quality papers. All are chosen for their durability and archival qualities.

Is the painting ready to hang?

Most paintings are created on a wood panel and come with wire on the back so they are ready to hang immediately. Each painting in the shop will have details in the description. After delivery you can organise additional framing if required. If you want help with anything to do with buying your painting contact Jan.
