First animation

I work a lot in my sketchbook. I cut out shapes (circles!) from painted paper and then I move them around to discover what they do to each other, how one next to an other affects the colours and perception of shape. Then I stick them down onto my sketchbook page.

When I realised I could make a little movie of this process I was very excited. I’ve always loved stop motion animation, both for it’s humour (Wallace and Gromit) and it’s art potential (William Kentridge). Now is my chance to make a pebble-sized dent in the genre!

Ta daa! Here is my first sketchbook animation!
